Ashley Gorge Waterfall Track

Mum was looking for a walk for us to do on a hot day, so we headed out on our local Waterfall Track at Ashley Gorge. I love, love, love going to the river there, so to be honest I’m always a little disappointed when I discover we’re going walking, not ball chasing at the river - but I do my best to have fun all the same.

It was just Scruff and me on this trip, with our humans. That’s Scruff’s Mum, Mirjam. We’d come out of the forest section and arrived at the bench. The views are pretty good from here too. Then you head back into the forest and down to the waterfall.

Some pretty summer flowers, the waterfall and me and Scruff…

Here’s a photo of the route back down through the forest. There isn’t much information about this route online yet. It has been built by volunteers with direction from our local community in Oxford and in partnership with DoC - it doesn’t even have a signpost at the bottom, but this was my third trip! It takes about 90 minutes to the waterfall and just over 60 minutes back and is a fun little walk.
This is the only sign at the start of the track. The Waterfall Track goes off the loop track and has a sign to let you know where to head up.
And the BEST part about this trip… I did get to play ball afterwards. I even let Scruff use my second ball. And I got a towel dry. I also LOVE a towel dry!
