Cloudy Hill

So… Mum decided that Cloudy Peak was the challenge for today. It is slightly lower that Mt Lyndon at 1442m and just further along the same range. We parked on the Porters Pass access road and headed up the hill.

Up that there hill to the top - that’s Cloudy Hill in the distance.

The humans decided to skip the Trig at Pt 917 and save that for the return journey, so we headed straight for Pt 1014 and then up the hill. There was a fence to get through that we didn’t expect. Mum says it wasn’t mentioned in the trip reports she had read.

Continuing up from Pt 1014

Looking down the ridge we climbed.

And the views towards the ski field - obscured by Cloudy Hill

Mum found more of what she calls natural Zen gardens. Apparently these are caused by frost heave.

And - ta dah - the top. Maisy’s Mum, Liz, had a new bright orange woolen hat. It sure stands out!

We had a break…

Soaked up the views… and headed back down again.

That’s Cloudy Hill from the trig beacon I mentioned earlier. Quite amazing to think we were up there just over an hour ago…

And there’s my trusty Nissan Dog Mobile waiting for us - a small dot at the bottom of the steep hill.
