No rabbits

Shanti reports…

It’s official. There is a lot of rabbit or hare poo, but no rabbits or hares to be seen on Rabbit Hill. I was definitely conned on this trip, but it was a cool adventure anyway.

So, to get to Rabbit Hill (where I will remind you, to avoid future disappointment, that there are no rabbits to be seen) you have to get to Trig M first. It’s about 90 minutes up from the Starvation Gully car park. Scruff and I would have been a lot faster, but we are required to wait for our humans. They do drive the car and carry treats and water, so I guess we don’t really mind.

On the other side of Trig M you get to make your way off path generally heading along the ridge to the highest bump in the distance.

There are some cool rocks that are great for a photoshoot. I actually hate it when Mum brings out the camera, but this shot of me and Scruff is pretty awesome. After the rocks, you follow the ridge some more. The route drops down into a saddle. It was pretty wet and boggy which was lots of fun.

Our humans were trying to keep their feet dry. That was funny to watch. Then you climb up again to the top. Mum had a heavy pack and threatened to leave her pack at the bottom. In the end, she did carry it up. In part because it was a training trip, but also because she was worried she might never find her green pack in the long grass again. The joys of walking off track!

This is Scruff and his Mum, Mirjam. We’ve gone around the side instead of straight over, but we’re almost at the cairn on Rabbit Hill (still no rabbits). Then it was lunch and treat time at the cairn.

Then it was time for a rest and a cuddle before we headed back to the car. Mum took her shoes and socks off (see below - for real). Thank goodness I wasn’t down wind. Did I mention there was not one single rabbit?
