Ryde Falls

Shanti reports…

Well, that was confusing. Maisy and I set out to Ryde Falls with our Mums. After about 20 minutes, as we topped out of the first ridge, Maisy started to limp, so we turned back. Fair enough.

We dropped Maisy back at her home and started the walk over again. Wait, what? I’ve just done this and we’re going again? (And… note to self: don’t get injured or Mum will leave you at home).

Oh well, it’s a lovely walk through the forest and although you don’t get much time in the water the waterfall is pretty to look at. BUT… just before the waterfall there is a little river to cross. The levels were higher than usual for the route. Not very high, just higher, which meant wet feet for the humans.

Maisy’s Mum, Liz, rock-hopped successfully across but Mum slipped on a wet rock and landed on her left ribs. Cracked ribs enters left stage. After a moment to catch her breath we had a subdued lunch, followed by a very brief look at the waterfall and a slower than usual walk back.

Fortunately, it was just a fracture, not a break, but I got into a lot of trouble for weeks afterwards whenever I inadvertently pulled on my lead.

Not many photos were taken for some reason, but the waterfall is below.
