Wooden heart

This was my entry for the December challenge. The Soap Challenge Club theme was a Black Tie Affair. The idea was to use predominantly black and white soap batter, with one accent colour. This happened to be the perfect opportunity to try and recreate a soap I had seen posted with a woodgrain look - with the direction of the grain leading into a single white colour portion on top.

It was a design that I had trouble out figuring out how to recreate - but had a few ideas thanks to brainstorming with fellow soapers.

I had initially tried to do this in one pour with dividers, but failed. So for this attempt I created a loaf of wood grain soap first, along with the heart imbeds. I cut the wood grain soap loaf into three shortened pieces and added these back into the loaf mould with space for the heart embeds and white. The embeds were fixed in place with a dab of melted cocoa butter and then the white was poured.

This shows how the soap was created. This was then cut into three sections and cut horizontally.

The soap was unmoulded, cut into three sections and then cut horizontally for form bars. Second time lucky - all went according to plan.
