Hiking Tails
Adventures on the trail (mostly) with Shanti dog
Trig M with snow
Mum wanted a fun and easy snow walk, so we set out to Trig M with the thought that we’d try Rabbit Hill if it looked passable.
Lavericks
Follow Shanti and friends on a short walk to bag peak number 9 in their mountain dog challenge.
Mt Oxford
A cold and windy outing to Mt Oxford where the windchill factor was severe for those without their own fur coat.
Cooper's Knob with the team
Our team head up Cooper’s Knob and then a little way along the Crater Rim Track.
Mt Barossa
Shanti, Scruff and Maisy head up Mt Barossa for the mountain dog challenge. Another misty adventure.
Cooper’s Knob
Shanti goes on a scouting mission to find the start of the route to Coopers Knob.
Detours and Mt Grey
Shanti endures a detour around Mt Grey before being able to tick off another summit for the mountain dog challenge.
Back to Cragieburn
Shanti takes his friends along Sidle 73 and up Helicopter Hill for the mountain dog challenge
Mt Thomas
Shanti gets some company for the Mountain Dog Challenge and ticks of peak number two of ten.
Foggy Peak
Shanti does his first Mountain Dog Challenge peak. Mum didn’t exactly pick and easy one to start with, but Foggy Peak got a big tick.
Lake Ohau
Shanti goes on holiday to Lake Ohau. He’s relieved it isn’t another camping trip and enjoyed some adventures as well as one misadventure that saw him heading home early for a vet visit.
Handbrake on Tongariro
The Tongariro Crossing has been on my bucket list since moving to New Zealand. Read more about Shaz’s adventure.
Mueller Hut
About 18 months after Bob’s stroke I decided to take some me time and head for the hills. Mueller Hut was worth it, but it was also amongst the hardest trips I’ve done, on several levels. Walks are always harder when you’re not fit!
